SIMON ARCHITECTURE PRIZE / FUNDACIO MIES VAN DER ROHE

One of the most prestigious architecture awards in the world, nominates the ADN BA house from Dumbrava Vlăsiei among the finalists of the international competition.

The individual housing project, ADN BA, from Dumbrava Vlăsiei was selected in the final of the Simon Prize International Architecture Competition, in the Best Living Places category. Imagined and designed by the architecture office of the same name, at the request and with the financing of the developer, the ADN BA house is an architectural emblem of Dumbrava Vlăsiei and an exceptional living space for Romania.

HOUSE IN DUMBRAVA VLASIEI - Simon Architecture Prize

ADN BA proposes an unconventional, playful layout with unique value. The house stands out especially on the inside through the play of volumes of the spaces and the access to them. The rooms are effectively the core of the construction, and the stairs, built peripherally and overlapping, offer multiple permeability options. The house gradually opens up and the spaces communicate with each other, making ADN BA a social entertaining space par excellence. The architectural vision of the home was noted by the Simon Prize, one of the most prestigious architectural competitions worldwide. The ADN BA house joins the series of appreciations from the community of architects for Dumbrava Vlăsiei - the Studio 1408 house received the Grand Prize for the Best Individual Home at the 2021 Architecture Biennale, the Teacă House was awarded in the Best Individual Home category at The 2020 Architecture Annual, and the entire Dumbrava Vlăsiei project was recognized as the Best Real Estate Development at the 2019 Architecture Annual.

"Dumbrava Vlăsiai is a promoter of exceptional architecture and we are very happy to have a new reconfirmation of our vision by selecting the ADN BA project among the Simon Prize finalists. We are honored by the presence of a Romanian project in a competitive series of spectacular homes from all over the world and the opportunity to talk through it about the community of values in Dumbrava Vlăsiei", said Maria Ioan, Senior Sales Manager of Dumbrava Vlăsiei.

"We are delighted and honored at the same time that the AND BA house is the first house in Romania to be in the finals of a worldwide competition. Thank you for the opportunity to give priority not to stylistic aspects, but to the exploration of themes and values in a project that is equally contemporary and timeless," said Andrei Șerbescu, who led the ADN BA team of architects.
